Google: FeliCa Issues on Pixel 6 Series
Some Google Pixel 6, Google Pixel 6 Pro, and Google Pixel 6a devices have been found to experience malfunctions with the FeliCa feature (used for services like Mobile Suica, iD, QUICPay, etc in Japan). Google has acknowledged the issue with a post in Japanese and is currently prioritizing investigation and resolution. Below is a summary of what users need to know and how to minimize problems until a fix is released.

The Issue
On certain Pixel 6 series devices, the FeliCa (Osaifu-Keitai) function may not work properly. This could affect contactless payments and transportation cards that rely on the feature.
Google has confirmed the problem and is actively working on a solution.
What to Avoid Until the Fix Is Released
To reduce the likelihood of triggering the issue, Google advises users to avoid the following operations until a corrective software update becomes available:
- Inserting or removing a SIM card
- Downloading or deleting an eSIM profile
- Restarting (rebooting) the device or powering it off
These actions may increase the chances of the malfunction occurring…
A software update to fix the issue is currently being prepared. Once ready, it will be rolled out promptly to Pixel 6 Series.
If you own a Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, or Pixel 6a and rely on FeliCa for transit or mobile payments, be aware of potential malfunctions. Until Google releases the corrective update, it’s best to avoid SIM/eSIM changes and unnecessary reboots or shutdowns.
Google apologizes for the inconvenience and is working to deliver a fix as soon as possible.
